PASCALE SALMON
Paris, France
Pascale Salmon is a featured artist in the Vegan Storyteller Gallery of Vegan ARTivists.
Pascale speaks for the hundreds of billions of animals that are slaughtered globally each year for human food. Her artwork responds to moral, ethical, and humanitarian concerns and calls into question the inconsistency between our thoughts, words and actions.
“I push for change by conveying the idea of animal liberation. I show the relationship between human and animal species and raise questions about morality, justice, ethics, freedom, and peace. When people see my art I want them to reflect on the inconsistency between their thoughts, words, and actions.”

Pascale’s silhouette series emerged from a combination of two things. She used to paint Buddha heads; nowadays, during street actions, people stand close by her information table, allowing her to see only their heads.
Often, people tell her that they love animals and agree with her about not eating them, but then they say they like meat too much to give it up.
These inconsistant conversations led Pascale to ask herself, “What do these people have inside their heads?”
Consequently, she began painting the inconsistent and perplexing messages that lurk within the human mind.
I created an art series called Animal Hearts to more specifically reach children because I believe they are already conscious and are the ones who will change the world.

Using stencil murals as a street action, I place animals in urban spaces as if they are calling out, urging us with their plea, “Don't forget us. We are here. Over here… don’t forget us.”

Vegan advocacy

1. Compassion for animals
2. Care for the environment
2. Concern for personal health
4. Calling toward a religious or spiritual belief
